Telling stories through objects: Historical Society members Karen Kloosterman with household irons and Annette Neville with Mayfield’s cordial bottles

Many people have interesting historical items in their homes, such as photographs, documents, kitchen implements, clothes and war memorabilia.

Orange & District Historical Society is giving you the chance to share your treasures and tell the stories attached to them.

Some, such as household items, show the way we used to live, while photographs give an insight into how people dressed, and documents delve deeper into what happened during people’s lives.

The society’s meeting on Wednesday 9 May will be a ‘Show and Tell’ session and participants are encouraged to bring along favourite objects, photos and documents and share their stories.

To start the evening’s discussions Historical Society members will bring along some items from the society’s collection.

The meeting will be held at 6.30 for 7pm at the Senior Citizens Centre (entry from Woolworth’s car park). It will be followed by supper.

Entry is $4 for members and $6 for non-members.
